I have a company in Pattaya which is doing a restaurant business. However, I would also like to add money exchange business under this company which if the client would like to exchange their money to a different currency, they can give us the cash directly or do by bank transfer, then we exchange it by cash or bank transfer its equivalent currency to the client’s account. Is this possible? And what are the steps to do this?
Panwa: Yes, it is possible. However, please be clarified that for your mentioned businesses above, it cannot be categorized into 1 business type only. It must be separated into 2 as:
- New Objective 1: Money exchange business covers only for the exchange by cash at a money exchange booth/counter; it does not cover for exchange online. Before you can do this business, you must apply for the money exchange license first which you can apply for only 4 months per year (March, June, September and December).
Remark: you can visit our website at: https://www.companythailand.net/?s=money+exchange+company - New Objective 2: Online transfer business; this will fall under money transferring business (which can do both by online transfer and also by direct bank transfer). For this business, the director (you) must discuss with the Bank of Thailand directly for their requirements (approval is case by case). Anyway, for the steps of add objectives, take time 17 days to finish the process.
Remark: We can’t serve for “Money Transferring” or “Money Remittance business”.
