I plan to set-up a Thai company and apply for Money Exchange license. Thus, can you advise the conditions and differences between setting up for apply license by all Thai nationals and setting up by foreigner in the company?
Panwa: If you would like to set up a Thai company for apply money exchange license you have 2 options as:
Option 1: set-up company with all Thai director and shareholders – this is the easiest way to apply for money exchange license and capital is minimum required Baht 1 million and must be fully paid.
Option 2: set-up company with foreigner as either director or shareholder – for this case your company must apply for TAT license first before can apply the money exchange and the capital must be baht 10 million , fully paid and must be bring in to Thailand and present to the government through bank certificate.
Moreover, There are no specification for the director and shareholder for money exchange license but for TAT license the company’s number of Thai director and shareholders must be more than other nationalities and the ratio must be 2 Thais per 1 foreigner which the ratio must be maintained by the company, as long as it has a TAT license.
